They're both great cities. Prague is more historic, feels medieval in the downtown area and has a great bar culture. Budapest is more interesting, culturally and historically (because of the Ottoman influence) and feels more authentic and a bit less touristy. It's also a bit cheaper. I'd say you can't really go wrong either way.
Vienna or Budapest: which one is better for nightlife. If you are looking to party the night away you might be wondering if Vienna or Budapest is better. Vienna. Vienna is great for nightlife especially if you love clubbing. Inner Stadt is a great place to go with the highest concentration of nightclubs in the city.
Budapest. PRO: Food markets spread all around the city offering a better range of options than Prague. PRO: Bigger city with more grounds to cover on both the Buda and Pest side. CON: Budapest has a younger nightlife crowd compared to Prague, in my opinion.
Re: airfare advice to prague or budapest. the AA flight from London to Prague is an AA codeshare run by British Airways. I would always allow at least 2 hours to change at Heathrow or Gatwick. Amsterdam, Copenhagen or Munich are much better places to change flights at than London, but may be more expensive to reach.
1 week, 3 countries: Prague - Vienna - Budapest: PRIVATE TOUR: : $2,811 1,5 hour oldtimer convertible Prague sightseeing tour: $169 1,5-Hour Prague Magical Segway Tour: $70
6.9k. September 1, 2005. PA. #2. Posted January 20, 2019 (edited) Never been to Prague, but I'd highly recommend extending in Budapest! We did an Amsterdam to Budapest cruise the other year and added 2 days in Budapest. It was great. 2 days really wasn't even enough - could have done more.
1 – Budapest, Hungary (cheapest) Traditionally, Krakow (see below) is the cheapest entry on this list, but Budapest is even a bit cheaper in 2023 thanks in part to a weak Hungarian currency. When you visit you’d never expect this place to be a cheapskate’s paradise because it’s gorgeous and filled with large and super impressive
Make sure you check out either city's extremely interesting modern history. if you are not for sightseeing, and only for nightlife and fun, do both prague and budapest over vienna. cheaper, livier. The thing is we already booked and land on the 27th and leave on the 31st both in/from Vienna.
Prague is better known for its museums, nightlife, music, historical sights, big city activities, and impressive beauty, while Zagreb is more popular for its food. Prague is more touristy than Zagreb and is known for its world-famous old town, local beer, wild nightlife, historic landmarks, and the Charles Bridge.
The cost of accommodation, food, drinks and activities are all lower in Budapest than in Prague. A day out in Prague will usually be more expensive than in Budapest. Tourist attractions such Prague Castle and Charles Bridge will add to your total costs, whereas similar attractions in Budapest (e.g. the Buda Castle) are free.
